Thank you very much. She is a great pup. My 130lb male was the same way with him. But I fully agree with your statement. Its sad that one of the best family dogs are hated because some people bred them to hate, while most are more loving then anything. How many actual attacks are from Chihuahuas and other smaller breeds that no one writes about?? Way more then pits. How many of us have had an ankle bitter, bite the h-bomb out our legs? Honest answers please. I know I have a few times

See what I mean. Yeah my 12yr old was sprayed way back when an it was so hard to get the smell out. I became best friends with a tomato sauce bath for a week lol
I'm sorry but dogs do not bite for no reason. I'm not trying to say what happened to you wasn't serious but some dogs are food aggressive, toy aggressive, territorial, etc and maybe the dog was warning you but you didn't know. Dogs have subtle tells, like their tails drop or stops wagging or their stare changes.

I tend to disagree any dog at any moment can snap for no obvious reason it's part of natural instinct and yes they might show signs but not always

Some dogs will snap at any moment without warning but that would mean that they have a problem in there genetics/ a mental issue. To say that any dog will snap without warning is not true, the vast majority will show signs. Very few will randomly bite.

that sounds alot like when my dads chow attacked me. all i remember is im sitting on the floor in the living eating some chicken with my cousin and i dropped a bone went to pick it up and put it on the plate and boom the dogs mouth was covering my face. then i blacked out
Depends on the age of your child, but there is a concern with having any dog with a child under 5 because they don't understand that they could be scarring or hurting the dog when they play. Add in the fact that the dog was abused and that it is a Pitbull I would say its a bad combination with a small child. I'm not against Pits at all but they are big strong dogs that could easily harm a child even if the dog was just playing.
I have 2 pound dogs that have been with my wife and I for 8 years. They are great dogs, never aggressive at all, and would rather lick the stranger at the door than bite them. But earlier this year my son, who was 1 at the time, was playing with the dogs. The dog was laying down and my son fell on her leg hurting/scarring the dog, and the dog snapped at my son. Keep in mind these dogs are as playful as any dogs I've been around but in the wrong situation anything can happen in an instant. Luckily the dog did not actually bite him because even though I was only 5ft away, the dog could have easily done real damage in the 1 second it took me to smack the dog away.

Similar thing happened to me with my parents chow, which was abused by previous owner. I was eating a steak in my room upstairs and set the plate on the floor while I went down stairs to get a soda. When I went back into my room the dog was there eating my food. I didn't even go for the plate, before I even got though the door she was charging at me. Luckily my dad was at the bottom of the stairs and heard everything right away. He ran up and kicked her ass down the stairs. Not saying that was the "PC" or best way to handle the situation but i can't say I would do anything different to a dog attacking my son
