The jewels might e cuase they are wild caught. The others are fry from pairs we carefully selected, meaning we didnt get them parents from the same place and they are select one from other breeders.

Hello, I need to ask you about your Kenyi fry. I rescued 16 Kenyi fry from my LPS. Right now they're between the sizes of 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. How big do they need to be before I can tell if they're male or female? I know the males become a gold/yellow color and the females stay purplish-blue. I think a couple of my fry are starting to show the first signs of being yellow, but I can't tell if its just my florescant light or not. Can you please help me? This is my first time raising Kenyi fry.

Soon as they get a bit bigger (in about 6-8 weeks) they'll be going into a species only 55 gallon tank.

smcknight i answered u in ur post. The fry havent yet shown aggression to each other but they will soon need to be starting to move around. and i have 11 tanks. And no matter how much my hubsand begs i will never use babies of anythin i breed for feeders! I just cant. The only thing i think i would ever breed just for feeders would be gambusia and rats for my snakes
