Baby Alligator Gars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2' in it's first year yes!.. as for captive size.. i think the general concensus is 4'-6' .. I'm new to gars myself but you should find the info here w/ abit of digging.

Are they definitely Gator Gars? Florida's are often mislabeled as Gators for a showier name.

i think average 1st yr is about 16-18in with a captive average of 4'. but like madding said, it could be labeled wrong. i see countlessvideos and pics on the net of florida gars (which are more common and more suitable due to their smaller adult captive size of around 18") being labeled as gator gars. i think its fairly easy to id gators at any age. the biggest thing is their shorter snout, which i guess would be hard to compare to if its by itself.

wow, zack u r learning fast dude!! good info!! ps the captive max of floridas tends to be over 18" unless stunted
