wow, zack u r learning fast dude!! good info!! ps the captive max of floridas tends to be over 18" unless stunted

im not sure if thats a compliment or not, due to the fact that i was a newbie 2 months ago. youll have to ask my wife. haha. but i think im slightly ocd and very driven in an area that im interested in. which does come in handy. thats how i learned to chemically enhance myself the safe when i competed seriously in weightlifting. but sometimes im a little over bearing on my subjects of interest. haha

lol. no its def a compliment. see so many people that just wont listen and learn its a relief to see people that do.

got mine from LFS at 5" 2 weeks ago, its now 8". was pretty surprised how fast if grew.

when do gators slow down growing? if this keeps up ill need a DiY pond soon.

Probably not until well after the first year.

even then you are talking about a serious monster that even if you build a serious outdoor pond for, it is gonna have to be massive to house a beast like a gator gar. picture something like a VW type 2 wagon swimming in your backyard LOL

this is generally incorrect with captively raised home specimens. please read up on the fish and the true husbandry and growth before just regurgitating everything others (who are equally misinformed) are spewing about gigantic tanks and 10' long fish--

ALL Gars for sale in Bombay (India) are labeled "Alligator Gars"..

I am not sure if it's the same case in your corner of the world. Please post pictures for a positive ID.

Cheers,
Sid

Get a shortnose gar they only get about 3 feet in length and that is a big one. I have caught gator gar that are 8 1/2 feet and weighing around 150 pounds, you need a super tank to keep one.
