HEy all so this dude wants to trade me a baby alligator its 2 feet long

how do i care for it im still debating about doing the trade just cause it will get really big one day so what do you all think i should do and how the heck do i care for one thanks

whats the trade? depending it might be a semi decent deal. here at the hamburg reptile show a gator that long would be around 160. they arnt too hard to care for except the size. im a caiman person but gator would be sweet!!

Probably American Alligator, which will get 15'+ and be very dangerous.

I always thought they were an awesome pet, I'd get it if and only if you know you will be able to house and care for it as an adilt.

As already stated this guys get HUGE and can be EXTREMELY dangerous at less then half size grown. Do you have any experience dealing with large agressive reptiles, say burmese pythons, large monitors, etc? If the awnser is not, then no you should not get that gator. And do have the means to build the gigantic enclosure it will need in a not to far future?

if you can house it properly, they do actually make good pets and will generally calm down and not try to attack you if you can establish yourself as a dominant figure. Once they get big, extra precautions should be made but generally speaking, gators are laid back and easy going.

I would take it if you could house it properly. I have some friends that are keeping one that size in a re-purposed hot tub but they are in the process of turning their entire garage into a pond for this soon to be beast.

Tackle it during breeding season a few times. I am serious, they will not challenge you so long as you can win a wrestling match with it. I know 3 people that have 10'+ gators and they all tell me the same thing.

never herd that one before I dont however if everybody that has a gator should try to do the same, many safety implications envolved, if Im destined to have one of such critters I think Ill let him do its own thing wille I wach behind the safety of a fence
