Baby Armatus; first time in the UK!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, I ended up with one but, due to a malfunction with my growout, I ended up loosing it so I'm Armatusless! I'd certainly still like one but I've closed my grow outs now and would have to go for a pretty large one if I were to add it to my main tank and since large ones don't come up, I won't be getting one any time soon..!

I think MJJ4307 possibly got his from the same batch and his is at a respectable size so clearly some of them made it without any issue.

Hi i got mine from pier aquaticts last year and they eat and eat and eat!!! from 7" to 14/15 in 8 month!!!
1 thing i will mention is that the fish were feeding on dead lance fish when i got them.

Neil from pier has a way of getting them on dead quickly and i think that is the key to survival. + 30% water changes twice weekly and 9 x tank changes per hour from 2 x fx5's.

my first 2 armatus were from ross @ £75 each at 3 inch. i separated them in a container with air pump and heater id just bought with my new tank.
In the morning i took the lid off the box- it was like a jacuzzi 44 degrees!!!- faulty heater! £150 down the drain!!- gutted.

thats the thing with fish keeping- especially the rare ones i keep, you learn very quickly and it kind of becomes an obsession!- i have thousands of pounds worth of fish and my lass goes mad how much time i spend on them- but ive got 8 tanks of predators and i dont intend loosing any more.
ive lost a fortune in the last year.-14 gatf now down to one!! for no apparent reason at all. - TAKE NOTE- GATF ARE NOT AN AQUARIUM FISH!!!
only been keeping fish for a year but ive learned fast!!

similar story for mine but I shouldn't have used an old heater. Turned out there was a hairline crack that clearly failed 2 weeks after setting it all up. Totally crap. Now I need a minimum 10" Armatus which won't come about too often.

I'm in the same boat - don't get me wrong i'd pay the price for one but you have to have the opportunity.

Still hoping Max will part with his two ;)
