It's mainly from the fin nippage that he is having problems swimming, and occasionally his tail dips down, but he is bopping about, and I do have a tank that is okay for an Aro, not for life, but for a while. The tank he is in now is a grow out. By the time he is full grown I will have a 240g or larger for him. And I will be putting those other fish into the new one, to keep the stress from getting worse. What should I treat him with? I know the salt, should I try Melafix?

Did you read either of my two replies?

Got it, sorry a few came in at once, and I must have read over it. I have the Aro seperated from everyone else, treated with Melafix, and Salt. Got a new heater with the temp set at 84. How often should I treat with the Melafix? That stuff has a righteous odor lol..the Aro seems to be doing okay at the moment, I also got a new filter, the other one wasn't doing a whole lot as far as aeration goes. Hopefully he recovers.

you need bigger than a 240 tank for life by the way. especially for a silver aro. more like 480 tank

I'll worry about that in a couple months, right now I need to know exactly what to do after I got the Melafix, Salt and everything set, just wait it out? keep treating the water? He hasn't been eating much, any tips to get him to eat? or just keep trying.

Does it have open wounds? I would only add melafix and pimafix if there are open wounds. I you are treating open wounds with mela/pima they need to be dosed daily.

Do you have a test kit, the best thing for the aro right now in clean water. You need to do the riquired water changes to keep the nitrates at or below 10ppm. I wouls just paln on daily water changes.

He has two small wounds on his back, and I need to get a test kit, but I have to wait on a bit of cash to get one. I know they aren't cheap, and I just can't afford one today. I have one at home, but I can't get up there to get it due to having class.

Just do daily water changes of 25%, that will keep the nitrates low enough. Make sure you add salt for the new water your are adding.

I will do that, and on the eating issue? or should he bounce back once he calms down.

Offer him food, if he does not eat it then remove it. If he is not eating then only offer food once a day. You may need want to try to feed right before water change. After a WC he may be a bit stressed and then will not eat.

Okay. Should I offer him different foods? or just keep to the flakes. I have meal worms that I cut up very small, baby brine shrimp and the flake food, I can also get crickets if needed.
