i bought a 5cm baby silver arowana today. i tried feeding him freeze-dried bloodworms(the floating kind), freeze-dried brine shrimp, and flake food. he left the brine shrimp alone. he ate the bloodworms and flake food, but spat them out. anyone has any idea what i should do?

thats like hardly 2" mate.. does it still have the yolk sac? totally agree with the other comment.. they are very fragile at this stage.. the aro will have to settle down.. its a good sign the aro is taking the food and spitting it out.. its hungry and thinks what you are giving is food.. so wont be long before he starts eating.. give good aeration.. clean water and not too much of water current.. all the best.. cheers..

keep feeding the blood worms. Still to small to be fed pinhead crickets.

i don't think they eat dry foods right off the bat it is a trained thing. You must feed live first.
I don't go off what I think, I go off what I have experienced. In my experience the best food by far to feed baby SA arowana is freeze dried blood worms. Having to feed live first is inncorrect.

err the yolk sac's gone. i got him eating baby guppies now in a small tank below 5 gallons. when he gets to about 15cm i'm gonna put him in my 125gallon with my spotted gar and endli bichir. approximately how long would i take for him to get to that length? xD
you guys know any way to sex arowanas?

Bro.. read this thread.. has almost all the answers to your queries..

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?329584-do-you-want-an-arowana-then-read-this

if you have read it.. then ignore it..

How big are the spotted gar and endli now? The thing about aros is.. its best to keep them alone till they are about 11" to 12".. they might look big but they are spooked and scared easily.. so dont think about it..

i'd suggest you get something like a 50 gallon tank for now.. no decor.. good filter without too much current.. no powerheads.. good aeration.. and now that you've got the aro baby guppy.. when the aro finishes the guppy batch.. revert to the dried bloodworms..

sexing the aros is mostly assumptions.. most of us here with aros larger than 2ft assume we have male or female aros.. do a search on this site.. you will come across a few threads.. there is one of brian's too..bderick67.. assumptions are basically jaw structure.. pelvic fin length etc etc.. but for now.. just enjoy the aro and all the best.. cheers..

haha thanks kaya! :D the gar is almost 10inches while the endli is about six. i got them when they were tiny, and the arowana came later on.
