how is everything going this afternoon?

idk guys
he dosent look good at all
hes getting very very skinny because he stopped eating
and he looks likes hes drained of energy almost

try keeping your water super clean and adding some live blackworms, did you drop the water level so he has smaller place to swim and exert less energy?

This wont make any difference. More water equals a more stable environment as everyone knows. Arowanas are top dwellers and dont usually venture south.

i havent done anything to the tank
im not trying to stress him out or anything
i try feeding him daily but no cigar

try differant foods. Occasionally they can be tempted by something new. I know my silver LOVES chicken hearts and like to eat live crickets dropped into the water the prey drive takes over even if they don't want to eat...

If you know for a fact that he's dying then the responsable thing to do would be to put him down rather than let him slowly slip away.

more stable? that's debateable, you cant assume just because you have more water that is of better quality, although parameters might change more easily in smaller quantities it does not mean the water is cleaner i.e filtration and water management obviously play a vital role.

i know aro's are top dwellers, but if there was less water would it not be easier for the fish to find food.....in the example of blackworms that sit on the bottom if the water level was dropped 20cm would it not be easier to swim to the bottom to pick up food.

yes i know they are surface feeders as well....i've seen aro's eat off the bottom, by leaving blackworms at the bottom they will not pollute the water (ibviously with sufficient filtration) and he could eat anytime, if he wanted to. i would find that easier than constantly having to drop food in the water, seeing if he is eating, and then having to fish it out.

just my 2c and personal opinion.

How is it debateable? The larger the quanity of water the harder it is to change parameters, which makes it more stable. Has nothing to do with quality has to do with being able to change parameters quickly.

Your shallow water to make it easier for the aro to find food arguement, sounds like that of a lazy fishkeeper. Why would you feed balckworms to a aro, there is more then enough vareity of floating foods to feed small aros and large aros need something larger anyhow.
