Baby bass questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If your bass are anything like mine, the only thing is watch the nitrate level. I almost lost mine because of it. I got Freddy (grandkids named him) fromm a fishing trip with the grandkids to a little pond in a local park. They begged to keep this little 2 in. fish and I'm a soft touch (Didn't think it would live very long anyway) so we took it home and put it in a goldfish bowl and fed him worms and flies all summer. Well we now have a 55 g. tank and a 400 dollar filtration system and Freddy-Freddy Fishhead (his full name) is now about 8 in. and a real family pet. We are trying to teach him to jump through a hoop for worms. Still his favorite treat. Good luck with your little guys, they ate worth it.

DEFINITELY Heterandria formosa, Least Killifish. Great little livebearing fish. Do well at room temp even in small tanks. Had about 100 for months in a tank with big bowfin and yellow bullhead. All disappeared within a few days of adding a 5" LMB. Enjoy those little guys, they are very cool!

If they are large mouths they will eat mice when full grown
