Is it ok to put a calci sand in with a juvie bearded dragon? Right now we have him in a bare tank which is ugly, but I've heard that they might eat sand and not be able to pass it while young. is there any truth to that? Thanks for your advice.

if its the real fine stuff its a waste of time, too hard to clean and messy. i like the coarser sand myself. your refering to impaction btw and it can happen from injesting quantities of sand and getting it stuck inside the digestional track. there are alot of remedys online, ive had sucess with soaking in warm water. im no expert tho, lets hear what everybody else says.

Use newspaper. They cant eat it so their is no hazzard. And its cheap.

That's basically what we're doing now, but it looks terrible

I dont like the look of newspaper.....it looks to "cheap" I guess.

Calcisand isn't made to be eaten, but it's made to be safely digested. It won't hurt your lizard, so go ahead and use it.

NO, Clacisnad, or ANY SAND should not be use on baby or small animals. It is not ment to be injested but still is during feeding time. It get stuck in the dijestive track and the animal needs surgury or dies. If news paper is to cheap, us tile. The stuff you buy in stores, for you floors.

What about indoor/outdoor carpet?

The carpet is fine. It depends on what kind you get but as long as they cant get their nails/toes stuck in it, they will do fine.
