hello i got a baby 3'' bichir and i was wondering how long it would take before he will be able to handle feeders. and what is the best food i could give him when hes small? i want him to be very healthy

Skip on the feeders. Unless your growing them, their filled with diseases. Nasty fish.

Do as others have said.

oh ok i think i'll do blood worms then maybe a few feeders here and there when hes bigger but aren't blood worms supposed to be like a treat for fish? i don't mind using them but is there a main type of food like pellets or flakes or somethingi could use. he's pretty small and i know he could only take a few worms at a time.

Like said before, don't bother with feeders. Ive learned my lesson with those and switched all my bichirs to pellets and meaty foods like tilapia, beef heart, blood worms and other stuff. So with a 3'' id say blood worms cause their small then beef heart when hes big enough so he will get the protein to grow fast.

most people dont reccomend blood worms because the lack of protein. high protein foods should be fed, like shrimp pellets, cut shrimp, silver sides... my endli go nuts for live black worms.
