At this stage you could stick to the pellets with how much ever it consumes and instead of giving two at a time, just give one in intervals and see. I personally would try with mp's or other fish fillets just to make sure the required nutrition is given. After a while you could train with pellets even. This is what i have been doing with my banjar. The sticks are spat out even if it is stuffed inside a prawn! I dnno how he does it. Right now I am more concerned with his growth than anything else.
Also, Have some floater plants like Brian asked. My Jardini used to hide at that size. Just made sure there was floating plants for him to feel safe.
