Lol looks like my info is wrong about how big they got, my memory is betraying me I guess haha. They do get the same size as silvers apparently... I read they only get a bit larger than two feet somewhere before...

3 Ft in the wild. upto 30" in the aquarium. COngrats on the growout black! I have yet to have good luck with a baby black. After 5" they are a breeze to care for. just cover every hole no matter how small it is, or the fish might jump out. my old 17" black jumped through a 2" hole and died..rookie mistake but never thought the fish would jump through it!

My silver took about 1 year to hit 16 inches. After that he slowed down his growth and only hit a max of about 17 or 18 inches the next 4 months. So far, my black arowana has grown slower. I have had him for about 6 or 7 months now. bought him at 5 inches, and hes now about 9 inches. will prob hit 12-13 inches around the 1 year mark since I got him at 5 inches. I feed him the same as I did the silver, and he eats the same as the silver too.

its true, black aros don't seem to get very big haha. i think mine stopped growing at like 22"

With proper care and feeding your black aro will grow a inch per month maybe a little more.

Black aro should grow 1" per month if fed twice per day

Once it gets to 12-14" the growth rate will slow down
