BABY BLACK!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Feed it with shrimp and cut them to tiny pieces and feed it some baby feeders fish. Continue feeding it gain some length.

Mine never ate anything before when it was fresh off the yolk. I was worried at first as it won't even touch blood worms, krills or misis shrimps. It didn't ate for a week and it was really weak until I introduced some neon tetra and some white cloud minnow. 3 weeks later I reintroduced blood worms, krills or misis shrimps but it won't still ate it. I introduced some shrimp to my pleco and it got attracted to the scene, but it was way to big for the aro. I cut some tiny pieces and it ate the shrimps.

black aros look nice when they're young but they die so easily and its really annoying. feed it bloodworms like 4 times a day.

You will need to keep clean stable water. So it is better to go with a larger tank, 55gallons. Keep the waters surface low on currents if you have a cannister filter you can make the intake and return down low, I would also add an airstone and keep the water level about 6" from the top of the tank.

Bets first food is freeze dyed blood worms, baby aros have very soft pallets and should be fed soft foods until 4 or 5". You can also feed a soft freeze dried krill and a quality flake food. About once a week feed baby(pinhead) crickets that have been fed shaved carrots.

Keep you water temp about 82 degrees and feed 4 or 5 times daily. With the 55g partially full I was only changing 10g a week to keep nitrates under 10ppm. Also keep this guy by itself untill at least 5 or 6 inches long, then choose the tankmates carefully.

You can see what I did last year by clicking the baby aro link in my sig.

Good luck.
