So I had 4 baby blacks (about 3-4in) that I purchased from Rich at I.A. All four were in a 10g and one died a few days later, so I separated them and now they are all about 6-7in. I want to free up the individual smaller tanks they are in and combine them together. I have a 75gal with about 20 endli bichirs (4-8in), a pike 5-6, and an orino p-bass about 6 inch. Tank has a emp400, ac110, and a ac802 power head, and I do water changes each week, 50-70%. The aros and bichirs are eating pellets and the pike and bass are eating frozen tilapia.

So my question is it risky mixing the aros all together at their size?
If they are should I grow them another 2-3 inches then mix them?

It'll be a crap shoot no matter what the size. All you can do is give it a try.

put them in the biggest tank you got.

Thanks, that is what I was guessing, maybe I'll do it on a sat morning so i can keep an eye on them over the weekend.

Sorry can't do that, they would end up being a feeder in my 300g, a feeder in my 240g, and possibly a feeder in my 180g.

Anyone else want to put their 2 cents in?

try it now like the others said...if it doesn't work grow them alittle more and try again...i have seen some aros as young to mid aged fight constantly then after several attemps it finally worked idk why it did, but it did...

Watch for fighting at night. I had three blacks that peacefully swam together all day on a Saturday. Sunday morning I had one severely beat aro sitting at the bottom of the tank with the other two swimming peacefully together.

i meant, biggest tank possible

I agree with Bderick. It doesnt make that big of a difference if they were to grow a bit more before being added to the same tank. Might as well do it now.

I might try this the weeked anfter this one since I will have alonger weekend and can move them if there are any problems.

Do you think leaving the tank light on a few days my prevent the
from fighting?

No problem, hopefully I'll be able toget a +500g tank in a yr or two.

leaving the light might and might not affect anything and when you think it is ok to turn the light off that is when the problems could start...unless you plan to leave the light on all the time if it works
