I just got a baby northern Wednesday and he has seemed to be having a kind of seizure. Some of his legs will shake seemingly out of his control sometimes and he will squirm around some opening his mouth some. I've read most of the care sheet be for I got him and I don't remember seeing anything about an event such as this.

I got him from varanusinc.com. They where easy to work with and delayed shipping because of a heat advisory.

The little guy has not really eaten yet but he does seem to be healthy and very interested in exploring his surroundings.

If anyone can help me with this that'd be great.

The first day I received my argentine tegu, her toes/limbs were shaking too. Concerned I asked on a the breeder's tegu forum and was assured it was from stress from shipping. She was fine the following day and hasn't shaked since.

I'm not saying don't look further into it, but it could just be stress.

Is his substrate acidic at all? Did you check him carefully for mites?

Substrate is ecoearth. He was shedding when I got him so my girlfriend and I gently peeled it off of him. We have also handled him a lot and I havent noticed any mites.

My best guess is stress. If he is still doing it next week I may call up a vet and see what they think.

I would totally avoid handling him for at least a week. Like you said, he is stressed. Blue tongues are smart and need time to figure things out.

He does seem to show it more during/after handling. So we'll just look at him for now.

I never handle new Reptiles until

1: They've eaten
2: They seem totally comfortable in their enclosure. You wanna make sure they're comfortable in the place they are gonna spend 90% of their time before you try anywhere else.

dont peel there shed off either. i know of atleast one member on here who hurt his skink doing that( im amusing blue tongue is blue tongue skink)
