I've got a tank with three breeding males in it (they share the females)...and they breed like rabbits! My batches tend to be on the 40-60 size now that the males have gotten older and more experienced.

I feed algae wafers now and then, but mostly they get veggies. Whole zucchini and canned green beans are their main staple.

Oh nice. There is a big demand for them as I went to few pet stores in area looking for them one told me they were looking for local breeder they had hard time getting them.
They even sell them for ponds without plants.

Imagine you sell at local fish club or aquabid? They are neat plecos .

Your males dont fight? What size tank ?

Thanks

I sell at my local fish club, but I've got them coming out of my ears now, so I need to thin the herd again. Will probably bring a bunch to one my LFS.

No, my males stay well away from one another. They each have their own cave, and they rarely leave it. My current breeders are in a 29 gal, heavily planted tank. I have another set of albinos in a 30 x-long. The albinos are just coming up to breeding age. I expect to start seeing some action soon. The browns I've got breeding now throw both brown and albino (the albinos are SO cute when they're little!). Now, I just need to get some longfin genes in there, too.

Oh nice. The albinos sell for a pretty penny on aquabid around here none to be found. Glad to hear the males dont fight in atleast 30 inches of room

Thanks

Great replies and info everyone!

Guess what - THEY DID IT AGAIN!!

Almost one month to the day, I looked into the 6 foot tank yesterday, shone a torch (flashlight) into their "breeding crevice" and there was daddy sock with a new batch of eggs! And I found a whole load of eggs in my 4 foot tetra tank that I suspect are from my bronze cories! Add that to all the baby Convicts I've got growing out, and I'm running out of places to put them!
Mental. Looks like I've got a regular little breeding pair of bristlenose.
Excellent!
Store credit here we come!

That's a nice surprise! You're definitely doing something right if you've got that many fish breeding! Are you letting dad take care of the eggs?

I have another batch of new babies. I think my males are trying to outdo one another. When I give them green beans, riots ensue in that tank!

lol no store credit thats for people like me with a zillion platys and swordtails but bushynose plecos are sold easily.

I was at Miami fish farm which is way cheaper than pet stores and they had albino bushynose plecos babys at $20 each and thats like discount wholesale compared to pet stores.

I cant imagine you folks not selling them easy on aquabid unless you get a huge store credit as imagine pet stores selling them at min $20 each .

I actually put last month in community mail area bulletin board free swordtails/platys hybrids all colors and no one responded lol but bushynose I would sell

I've only ever traded Convicts, and I could only get store credit (only one lfs takes 'em - give me 50% retail). I'll have to ask all the other stores about CA$H sales for Bristlenose!

Just moved Daddy Sock, his driftwood and his eggs into the rearing tank - had some baby Cons in there with the baby plecs, so moved 'em all out but the 2 tiniest ones...
More baby sockpuppets!
Yeeha!

Mystery eggs hatched - over 100 little fry, still don't know what they are, but I'm hedging my bets that they are Cories.

More updates soon!

damn abns for 20 bucks.. thats insane... up here they only sell for 5 bucks a pop..

once you get a breeding pair they dont stop... mine have breed for me 6 months in a row now.. they slowed down a few months ago but all i did was drop the temp 5 degs for 4 days then back up 8 degs.. the day after i upped the temp i had a new spawn :D

im lazy so i usually feed omega one algea wafers.. they are putting out 50+ each spawn now :D

Good job I moved them earlier tonight - the first egg has hatched and the little dude immediately went for a swim!
He'd have been a snack for my Congos or Clowns in the 100 gallon!
