baby bullheads

If your "dirt" has a x amount of clay you don't need a liner. Its going to be muddy water but the fish will grow healthy and problem free.
It may be healthy and problem free but not in all ponds. I've seen some koi and goldfish full of parasites from a natural pond without any liner and most of times the natural ponds may suffered a summer kill.

Well I live close so can send them back. It will take a few years for the carp to get large but can put them back when its time. Right now they are cleaning up the algae the baby bullheads like to clean it as well. The pond keeps getting clearer and clearer so they must be helping my water out by cleaning up waste from the bottom.
Just wait till both carps and bullheads get bigger and that's when the problems started to appear.
