Hello,

A 3 cm white baby crayfish caught my attention. I used to take care of these before but they died and I missed the hobby so I am planning to try again but I am not sure on how to take care of a 3 cm cause I only bought a 3". So please help me. Thanks.

Sincerely,
Harold

The care for baby crayfish is essentially the same as for adult crayfish. Provide the appropriate water params (0 amm, 0 nitrite, <20 nitrate, >5 GH or so), provide adequate calcium in their diet, give them hiding spaces, avoid keeping them with other animals (because they will kill/eat the other animals generally). You can keep about one crayfish per 10 gallons safely.

I plan to grow it out in a 2 gallon tank then transfer it. Is iodine really necessary? for food, shrimp pellets as staples. Will it do? Thanks also :D

Ive kept the babies with the mother before 1 time, and found they eat whatever the Mom gives them mostly, i made sure to have some live plant material in the tank, and fed at lest one earth worm a day and aslo a high protein flake. They did great. :)
