good luck with them i finally got mines on sunday and he was eating frozen bloodworm on the first night and hes always corious of me following my finger, hea the cutest looking eel i have ever seen and hes roughly... 4-6" im looking into breeding red cherry shrimp for him and the rope fish :D

nice man I will be getting a rope fish once they are passed the 6inch mark, i actually got another today because they are so awesome, so i have 2 baby three inch fire eels now, pretty active, has yours eaten yet? mine did at store and stuff but i wonder how much they eat

you were wondering about feeding i personally find the biggest earthworm and put it into theyre tube problem is my tanks designed around the eel and hidy fish like rope's so you have to put 1 earthworm in at a time otherwise they cause tons of ammonia so i stick worms right in front of them cos my eel always attacks my hand for bloodworm but my ropes dont eat them

I have had my fire eel for 2yrs. She is in a 200 gal. and is 24 inchs. She is very gracefull, social and most tolerent fish in the tank. When we got her it took us two weeks to figure out what she ate. Frozen blood worms, in frozen chuncks x2 a day. She does her wiggle dance when she sees me cause she knows I fall for it every time.

if it to big they may choke on the worm.
