Baby fire eel diet?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have found it difficult to make my eels accept other food than frozen and live. Maybe you can catch some live bloodworms in FW creeks or something.
Do your eel eat feeders?

Puffer - yep I moved a few months ago. As a fishkeeper it's a real pain in the ass living here. They don't keep fish, especially not predatory fish.

I recently had to drive to portugal to pick up a shipment from a friend here on MFK.

Hakon - I'm afraid the eels are far too small for feeders, they are earthworm size.

i have one about that size and i feed it frozen anything and guppies...and ghost shrimp.... but small sizes...

is still to cold to have mosquitos larves in the water in there? Monday i go to LFS to see what they were eating, if need i wil send some frozem food for you:D

hey josé yeah that's mosquitos larvaes, they are also called bloodworms :)

I was gonna ask you to find out what they were eating :D

Where would I get mosquito larvaes in the water? :D

in stop water they grow if you fill a buket let it in the sun and bang:D mosquitos larves on top of the water, but if is cold than no luck:( .
you went from a cold place to a colder one :screwy:

Go find a seafood market and make your own frozen food 'flatpacks' ... ??

Grind up the scraps in a blender with a small amount of water.. put them in XL zip-lock bags and 'lay' them out in your freezer.. Vwa-lah, you have frozen foods!

They should hopefully key in on the 'smell' of the seafood, and gobble it down! A great inexpensive way to get those picky eaters some frozen food, especially if you can't find it in your country!

Miles thanks for the good advice as per usual ;)

The only thing i can get here in abundance is seafood. Should I do a kind of mussel/prawn/scallop mix?

I'll give it a go.

zix - it honestly is even colder here than England, I don't believe it :(

I have tried some freeze dried bloodworms (I brought them over from england) but they are no good because they stay on the surface.
