Damn that many months and only 3"? These guys really do take forever to grow. Nice shoal though, keep it up!
No, theres never been any algae in the tank. They get fed algae wafers, flakes, bloodworms, brineshrimp, massivore, cichlid pellets and goldfish pellets. Theres lot of competition for food so i think thats why they havent grown much. Im sure if theyre power fed they will grow much quicker.

I bought three that were 2" in November. When they were about 4" I was going to get rid of two of them cause of the constant bullying they were doing to my favorite one. I was too busy the weekend I was going to take them to the LFS and they killed my favorite that Sunday, he was just floating in the current still alive and I had to put him out of his misery. I miss how he'd greet my hand with kisses when I would work in the tank.
Mine is 6-7" now. I don't consider them too slow on the growth charts.
They get more territorial as they get bigger. Good luck with them.

Haha I love those little kisses, as soon as my hand hits the water Ive got at least 3 of them on me.
