Grow outs, will grow faster with more food and the cleanest water.

Bare bottoms tanks are very very easy to keep compared to sand or gravel, and the food will lay on the bottom for them to find without getting trapped in ornaments or in the substrate.

Unfortuantly they are a bit scared and would prefer hiding places, so i say go sand with some rocks. Sand will trap less and be easier to clean than gravels.

If just for a grow out... large sand or aragonite, if you can get it cheap. They like to dig. Broken teracotta pots make for nice hiding places, and are dirt cheap.

No need to make a grow out overly expensive.

use sand they love it :P, when i first got mine they used to bury half there face in it when they went for food, they thought they were sifters lol.

Use sand. IME, fronts grow faster when they're on sand because they sift for food.
