congrats to you. these are perfect pet turtles. i bought a few about 7 years ago and loved them. i have one 10'' beauty right now. i use petco large sized crushed although i wish i would have gone with a smaller size pebble. im thinking of adding black sand to mix up the color-but the size difference in the sand/coral would throw me off

So I am picking up my baby FRT tomorrow and was wondering for my sand bed if I just used super fine sand instead of crushed coral sand. Would that be ok? Amd will a peice of driftwood lower the PH to low? Or does the PH really matter that much? Do I need sand even or can I just have driftwood?

Fine river sand mixed with coral sand is best
Adding Driftwood is fine.

It's best to have sand for the FRT as that makes them feel more secure and when my FRT was young, he loves to bury himself in the sand to sleep
