Baby gar food

hold up!! at this size u under no circustances should be tryin to feed it anything but live. power feed it!! at that size mine had at least 2 dozen feeder guppys in the tank at all times when he was at that size. if he will take prepared great, but he needs food available 24/7. he is most supseptable to permenant stunting at this size. plz do not starve him. just pack him full of feeders untill he is a good bit larger

Dont worry! i will never starve my gars i know about that i got him like a hour ago so im gona see what food he is going to eat .... but i will pick up lots of feeder guppies by tomorrow

P.S. what size tank should he be in at this size? i have him in a breeding chamber in my 65 gallon looking to put him isolated alone in a 20 gallon by

yeah growing him out in a 20g would be good. that is about the size i got mine(actually i got slighty smaller) and i grew him out in about that size tank
 
try guppies. at that size your gar needs to eat quite a bit and quite frequently and live food generally won't cut it at this point in its life.
with gars this small i have always fed them live until they are around 6-8" long and then start experimenting with non-live.
if you put in non-live food and the fish doesn't take it (and leave it in the tank) it can quickly pollute the water...and at this small size gars are very susceptible to water quality issues (compared to their larger more robust older forms).
if the fish is extremely small (too small for guppies), then go with brine shrimp...they aren't the healthiest of foods, but they can fatten up the fish faster so it can grow and take on larger prey. if fed properly your fish should be up to 4-5" in just a week or two.
