Yeah man he sure is, not quite as fast as your RTC but since the end of september he has gone from about 2 inches max to about 4-4.5 and is getting heaps thicker, may be moving him into the 6ft soon but still nervous about it!
At the moment he is only in there with a tiny baby con left over from the last batch our pair had before we took them to allcoast, a ghost knife about 4-5 inches and one of green terrorizers little bristlenoses.. He seems to get on with the con a hell of a lot better than he did with the green sev that was in there before!
He is so damn cute, starting to become a real terror. He has been attacking his reflection heaps and although he still loves pretending to be a leaf of the plant he does race over to the glass when i'm about to feed him & doesn't mind the camera as much anymore...
Yeah like i said im still a bit iffy about the whole thing..
At the moment theres
1x 8-9inch la vey the grumpy oscar
2x 4 inch jds
1x 1.5 inch con
1x 1 inch female sal
1x 3 inch sev
1x 1 inch trimac (or whatever it is)
1x 1 inch festae
assorted clown loaches & two plecs
The sev is being traded in soon, possibly the con as well. The jds are the toughest in there at the moment but they stay at the bottom level of the tank 24/7 and dont seem to bother anyone else except each other.
The big problem in my opinion is la vey but as he and el vira were our first fish, first cichlids etc the sentimental value is extremely high however every time we look at him now he just reminds us that el vira is gone!
So, as painful as it would be we are considering taking him to the lfs soon...
hmmmm has any1 ever heard of a GG with am rtc and tsn in same tank? im asking as i like these GG alot , nice fish you got there btw, they are cute as babys but sure are monsters when grown
We have a 125 Gallon setup. The big dogs are a Giant Gourami (at least 14") a Green Severum (7") 2 Blood Parrots (both 6") and some silver dollars, a catfish and a cigar fish. We had an Oscar that was about 11", but he died a few months ago. Well, after our Oscar died, the GG just went NUTS! He is destroying the tank. I am afraid for the Severum, his tail is nipped so badly, it's almost half gone. Now, the GG is starting to chase the BParrots. We have tried everything. Rearranging the tank, adding more formations, plants, etc. Last night was real bad, he knocked EVERYTHING over in the tank (and some of these rocks we have are heavy). We started feeding way more often (I can practically feed him out of my hand!)
It looks like our only option is going to be to get rid of him or have a tank with ONLY him. I am just so bummed because that is my FAVOURITE tank in our house. He is also my favourite fish.
Just watch for aggression. We have had him for a long time and this just started. Seems like the older and the bigger they get the aggression kicks in. I'm dealing with this personally and I have been to several lfs that advised the same thing.
