LOL oh man considering the sizes of hawks we see around here, he is a baby.
The closes I ever got to a raptor was while we were hunting and sitting on top of this boulder looking down into a valley. A peregrine falcon flew up and landed in the branches of a tree that was right next to us, about 15 ft away. I wish I had a camera. But anyways, raptors are awesome.:headbang2

Wait, I lied, that wasn't the closest ever. My uncles actually found a baby raptor that fell out of its nest and was trying to hide under their car. They ended up raising it until it could fly and then they let it go.

It appears to be a Merlin.
Merlin are actually falcons, falcons specialize in hunting birds. By the look of the wings and the color I would say it caught a Starling.

Wait till spring. The Merlins take on a beautiful deep, almost blue hue.

Great photos!
