you would love the outside of my house theres always some awesome wildlife in the woods lol... i once got trapped in my house by 2 buzzards...they were HUGE..and outside of my front door eating a squirrel i tried to leave but they wanted to eat me.

It's not a baby or juvenile even ;) It's an adult Richardsons Merlin. a juvie's legs will be a lot lighter yellow than that. I did falconry for about 5 years but do to time restraints I had to give it up.

It appears to be a Merlin.
Merlin are actually falcons, falcons specialize in hunting birds. By the look of the wings and the color I would say it caught a Starling.

Wait till spring. The Merlins take on a beautiful deep, almost blue hue.

Great photos!

nice photos!

all i have to say is nature is beatiful

Very nice pics!

I am in Northern Illinois. Is the merlin the raptor that I see flying through residential neighborhoods about 4-6' off the ground, darting between trees and hunting birds? Very light wing flapping, mostly glides. I like watching it fly, but I don't recall having seen one eating.
