my baby jar is skittish when the air bubbles are flowing and stays on one side of the tank. When I turn them off he swims all over. i was wondering if I should leave them off until he gets a little bigger? or will it adapt? I have had him in a 55 gallon for about 2 weeks now and he is 3". thanks.

it is just scared of a new tank and it is a baby. Wait until it gets bigger, everything will be normal again.

yea they grow fairly fast if you feed them frequently so dont worry. what u might want to worry about is getting a bigger tank in the next few months.

He'll be OK and getting used to the bubbles soon. If you only use canister filter, I'd leave the air pump in. Keep feeding him at least three times a day and make sure he's eating well. Keep the temp at around 82-86 degrees and keep a close eye on him - mine had an anchor worm the first week after coming home but I detected it early enough so it was not a big deal. I had mine at this size in a 10g (by itself of course) with overhead filter for the first month and he was very comfortable and well fed. You still have 3-4 months for it to be in this 55g tank before you have to upgrade the tank. Good luck and post a pic or two.

These are from about 2 weeks ago when I first got him and threw him in the tank. Hes gotten a lot darker since then. Ill update in the Media lounge in about a month. I love this little guy.
