as soon as i let it out in my tank it has been swimming vertically with its tail in the air, its been 4 days. it has eaten but it just swims like this all day, every once in awhile it will swim normally. i doubt very highly this is supposed to happen. just wondering if anyone has any ideas why this might be happening.

That's what they do. They hide out and ambush. Cool fish!

Like he said limas do that alot lol completely normal u should post pics to lol
 
Put some fake vertical grass in there and watch how he will just sit in there like that all day! They don't do it as much once over about 8".

+1. I have 3 limas and when they're that small that's what they do. Cool fish to watch tho. What are u feeding it?
