Wow sorry to hear! Young fish are always a gamble, as Long as your water doesn't have ammonia or nitrites and considerably low nitrates then it happens once in awhile.

One decent lfs In my area makes you bring a water sample for them to test upon returning a dead fish, if your params are crap, they tell you to get lost and they won't sell you anymore fish....

Small fish are usually less expensive though.

yeah thats what they usually do here also, but in this case the shipment was supposed to be in on thursday and the plane couldnt land or something happened and it came the next day. thats why maybe, but not too sure. i also got a little dat and its perfectly fine. (knock on wood)
