+1. The males get some really nice red markings between the dark bands. This is one of the larger species of Paretroplus reaching nearly 14". Awesome pickup. Give them a tank for themselves and shoot for being the 1st to breed them in captivity.
The fish you got is a new species and rare in the hobby.

Why do you guys think this is P. maromandia?
I've been out of the Malagasy cichlid circle for a while but maromandia was completely out of the hobby a few years ago. Has someone recently collected and spawned maromandia? I would think they would be a rare find and would be labeled with their correct species name. From what I know of Malagasy cichlids this fish in question would likely be the more commmon Paretroplus menarambo. Has maromandia been introduced into the hobby recently?
