Wow thats crazy, there are so many.

We'll be seeing them in pet stores in a couple of months :) What are you feeding them?

Newly hatched baby brine shrimp(bbs) is their main source of nutrition. I've just started to mix krill powder to the bbs. In about a week their only feed will be krill powder. I will be switching them to live adult brine shrimp when they get over an inch in length for a few days then frozen brine shrimp after that.

What I would like to know, is how do you know where to stick the turkey baster?
Where are the likely spot that the pbass fry are?

Very simple, you stick the turkey baster where you see the wiggling fries.:)

To find the wiggling fries, first you have to locate a breeding pair, wait for them to lay the eggs, wait a couple of days in Summer months, longer when it's colder than 76 in the water, and the pair will deposit the fries in a hole in the substrate. If you wait longer, there may be more than one hole. The hole that has a dark circle in the middle has the fries.

I was just in Waikiki beach last week. Where are you guys hiding the PB?. All I saw were bikini clad humans.:WHOA:

You should have posted that you were going to be out here. I would have taken you fishing.
Did you go swimming in Waikiki? I think there are still high levels of sewage down there.:WHOA:

Are the pbass nests near the waterline, or are they down deeper?

Did not go swimming. Had a nice picnic though near water with a nice view of Diamond head.

I collect the wigglers near shore with as little as 12 inch of water. Although I've seen pairs spawning in waters deeper than 5 feet.

For collecting wigglers, you cannot step on the substrate. If you do, it will cloud the water so much, you won't see a thing. You could get stuck in the muck too. Best to do it while hovering over the nest snorkeling.

Following is a link to a post I started about PB spawning habits in Florida:

They are now a few days older than a month. Most of them are 3/4 inch now. A few are about 1 inch. They were recombined from two 20g tanks to what I think will be their final monster growout tank, a 55g. Most of them will be making their trips worldwide when they reach 2 inch in this tank. A few will be selected for growout to 4 - 5 inch.

The first batch of my Spring collection is now almost seven weeks. Most of them are now over 1 inch.:)

I've selected about 50 of them for a monster growth track.:D
