damn, i'm really sorry Nick, i was hoping that things were getting better, not worse.

have you tried purchasing RO water to do the water changes? that would certainly bring down the PH. and would also eliminate the possibility that it's something in your tap water that is causing your fish to die.

i know lots of folks say RO water is the only way to go.. i don't believe that. But i've run into a problem with our tap water and i don't have a choice, i have to use RO water and then find ways to bring my PH and buffering ability up, which i do with crushed coral. And it's working..

I have had problems a month or so back with the tap water pH here which was discussed in this thread - http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74983 but it's stabilized since and all my other tanks seem fine. I've also changed my routine to smaller, more frequent wc's and test the water before every one!

RO water is not really an option for me due to the cost and the distances involved, and the volume of water i go through :WHOA: . I could look into getting my own RO filter in the future but i'd rather see how things go with just monitoring the tap water for now.

Now, I just need to get a bit more size on the one remaining lonely ocellaris so i can transfer him into a bigger tank with the tems. (Fingers crossed - he's eating small pieces of fish pretty good at the moment)

Cheers.

sorry to hear about the lil pbass. when my pbass were small some of them were breathing hard. from then i set up 2 powerheads. one to put more o2 in, and one to increase the movement. ever since then they have stopped breathing hard, and remain healthy.

Yeah.
At the moment i'm thinking my problem was a combination of things
......low oxygen,
......and possibly some sort of toxicity from feeding too much bloodworm  (guessing on this one)

It could be. Have you tried the combination of adding more water movement/o2 + feeding them less while adding more filtration?

Just to tie up loose ends.

Unfortunately the last of the ?ocells died

Thanks for everyones input

RIP :rip
