Just these guys and a pleco who hides all day. There's live plants in the tank and ample hiding spots with rock caves all over the other side of the tank. These pictures were taken right after feeding. I am quite positive these guys aren't stressed out just by the way they act and eat. They appear to be quite healthy to me.

they may eat, but that's not the typical coloring.. if the colors are still dark like that, just give them some time.

They have been in that tank for three weeks now. Only other thing in there is the pleco and they're only dark after eating or first thing in the morning when I turn the light on. No no I forgot there is one snail in it. With those being the only two times they're really dark, do you really think that would be stress? If so caused by what? Water is changed weekly on a 50-80% basis. All levels are fine and temp is 82.

Well, do your pbass eat until it's "content" or does it stuff itself? When my pbass eats too much (sometimes to the point where it looks like its going to throw up), its colors either get dark or its colors fade

if they're on feeders, not really much you can do.. eventually they'll outgrow the size of your feeders and they'll feel more comfortable swallowing a fish then

That's kind of tough to say because I drop 1 at a time in right now until they don't eat one. The bigger one ate 3 today and the smaller at 2. And there's one swimming around

when cichla are small they are also kind of timid and jumpy it may not have a thing to do with the tank it may be they just arent used to people yet i agree they dont look unhealthy they just look a bit dark the fore head is the tell tale dark color either way im sure they will settle in just fine
