I just bought about a week ago from snookn21, 3 orinos and 1 of them I trained to start eating bits of hikari cichlid gold pellets!!!!!!!
Cant wait till they get bigger.

How did you train them. I have like 60 but they all only eat feeders

Mine eat bloodworms so I started crushing bits of pellets and mix it with the blood worms, after a couple days of doing this one of my pbass started eating little peices of pellets.

Many people have tried and failed at getting them to eat anything other than live. I really would like to see through an experiment whether there growth is changed in any way.

I bought three monos at the same time all the same size. One started eating Hikari carnivor pellets right away, one a few weeks later, the last still will not eat pellets but gets feed at the same time and larger amounts. The biggest is the one who started eating pellets first at 11" now, the second biggest is the second to eat pellets at 9", and the one who will not eat pellets a wopping 6".

I was under the impression no fish would starve themselves and they would eventually start eating the pellets you put in. Any thoughts on this? I just got a mono maybe two weeks ago and he was apparently already eating pellets. Well he doesn't seem interested in baby cichlid pellets. I've seen him take bites but I think he usually spits them out. He's eaten a few flakes but usually not many. Goes crazy for blood worms though. I've just been feeding the tank normally and assumed he would eventually get hungry enough to start eating the flakes and pellets.

Is this logical or will Peacock Bass actually starve themselves too death? Didn't think any fish would starve themselves to death if you added food regularly I assumed they would eventually adapt and start eating it.

my pbass finally at shrimp today... i staved it for while then it finally ate... but when i put in the shrimp it has to hit the pbass nose or it wont eat it

try mashing in pellets with the bloodworms to get them used to the flavor. Then slowly start reducing the amount of bloodworms and increasing amount of pellets.

Hey Jon, do what Chizzle said with the bloodworms. I was feeding bloodworms, brine shrimp and chopped tilapia. I crush pellets in with all of those to get them used to the taste/texture, but they are still spitting them out. It will take time to get him to eat pellets. The great thing is that he wasn't fed live food, so you don't have that hassle. Keep me posted and Good Luck!
