i got a 35g long tank with 7-8 dragon blood / fire ob mixed peacocks and 5 ele yellows that are about a inch and a 4" lemon jake that got beat almost dead and a 2" frontosa and was wondering do yall think a sponge filter would be best for the tank because i feed them and most the food gets washed to the bottom and dont get ate they will eat off the top tho

They should eat off the bottom. Only feed enough for them to eat what is put in. Also, saying sponge filter is like saying a filter. There are many types rated for different amounts. Narrow it down for us. Also, I hope this is a temp tank.

I suppose a sponge filter will do for the time being. However, you should treat them with melafix and pimafix and then do the water change recommended after the treatment. I've had a cichlid that was basically dead, and after treating him for literally a week, he came back. And I mean he couldn't keep his buoyancy and was floating upside down. But best of luck!!!

The 4" lemon jake is going to eat your fry eventually, if not already.
I assume some of those are fry based on your thread title.
