Very nice looking!

But I would still wait till they are not in a white tank environment before splashing hard cash on them!

hi,
do you remember this?
the first link
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=350091
and, this
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=365948

both links are showing the same fishes from the same supplier which are now currently in my tank, the only things that have changed till now are their color which is turning rather creamy.
If the baby plat turns like the one in the first link, then it will be enough to convince me to buy the fish, otherwise I will get my money back.
Here, to improve the quality of the plat, people are using lighting like they use for arowana. But I rather not, I like it original. There several qualities of plat on the market, but its really clear to distinguish whether one is not..
How much do they cost in japan?

Quite pricey here too.
I think they look to me like Plats, and you know the supplier well he got you plats before.
All looks good. But you know the tricks of traders, I reckon you know the score.

the supplier whom I got the plats from is a breeder as well. I keep contact with him from time to time. He wouldn't sell fishes if he notices a slight defect on the fish, otherwise we can always return the fish back to him.
The only possible way to obtain such a quality is by asking pictures of the fish, as detail as possible. Those pics I've been posting in this thread were always been taken from daylight shoots. No extra lighting were used in the tank, and of course according to him. I hope he'll start breeding delhezy, ornate, and lap.
I'd say, in the next few years there will be more plats available here in my area, as there would be more breeders producing them.

The only thing I wonder is how do you breed a Plat.
Is it not just a naturally occurring thing?

getting endlis to spawn is not that hard, with the correct water parameter anyone can start their own breeding project. According to the breeder, the parents has to be around 3 years old.
But in order to get a plat, one has to go through several generations of breeding from the same parents. Ever heard of semi plat? it actually exists. Which is also resulted from many generation of breeding. But some people will say that it is not a plat, they would rather say that its a wash out endli. I'd like to post pics of those semi-plat endli if I could find them later. So let say if you breed endlis and you end up with the semi plat, I'd say you're almost there, just no luck yet. But still the chance is 1/1000 eggs.
However there are breeders who are using hormon injections to speed up spawning. I've seen a female endli with injections marked on her body, NO GOOD.

I'm clued up on breeding, just never knew it was possible to "make" a Platinum.
I was on the understanding that Leucism is a random thing. (two plat parents = plat baby?)

I'm no expert on Platinum fish, so I have probably just learnt something new.

So fingers crossed then!

I think it is possible, just hasn't been done just yet as far as I know.

I think I got some pictures of what you are talking about. I saw it a few years ago and saved it. Is this what you are talking about? A white endy with normal black strips? :)
