BABY PLAT ENDLI

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just curious...if the parents have the normal coloration, how is the breeder sure that these are Platinum?

OK guys, the show must go on,
Tokyogasmask, Benzjamin13 :
I really don't know how the breeder tells the different between baby plat endli and regular baby endli, the only thing he told to me is baby plat endlis show yellow colors on its body when young, which I personally couldn't see it from the pics I received.
Based on the experience he had, the chance of getting the perfect plat is very little, which mean that you could still get a plat in one time, but the plat may not be normal or deform. Some of the plat endlis he had, have only one eye, but the color is still platinum. The quality of the color may not also be that white, but instead, more in yellow.
So far, all baby plats that the breeder produced are resulted from normal CBs endlis, for which the female parent is injected with hormons to speed up mating and produce eggs, which is of course I'm not sure what to call it. But I also heard from other breeder that it is also possible to use a plat as one of the parents to increase the chance of getting baby plats.
Surprisingly enough that the breeder only uses tap water for the breeding projects. So anyone here can start their own breeding projects if temped.
There are hundreds eggs resulted from one breeding, some of them with short body, but then again, it is hard to get a super short body endli.

My supplier for hybrid bichirs who also breed plats told me that even with two plat parents, the offspring will still have regular morph but with higher chance of getting a plat from the batch and this is why plat endli are hard to come by.

Plats or not this is a great thread. Thank you Garniac for posting those pics. ;)
