Good sounds like you have that under controll. Just do the water chances as I suggested and lets see what happens from there. Test the water before each water change and see how the ph has reacted.
 
Take a cup of your tap water and test the ph overnight. If you can put an airstone in there even better. This will give you the true ph of your tap water.

You can use crushed coral to raise the ph. Put it with your gravel or in the filter. You want the ph to be 7.0.

As for the gill curl, it could have happened due to aggression.
