Baby RES shell coloration

Noticed a change in the coloration of my little red eared slider's shell lately... The edges of the scutes are turning a dark grey. Anybody know what this is? It's a lot more noticeable in person.

Haha yeah. I just hadn't seen it before, better safe than sorry I guess. It sort of snuck up on me too, I didn't notice it until a few days ago lol
wouldn't worry about it....reptiles are opposite of fish, they get the best colors as young and the color fades with age. DOn't become a Hyporeptochondriac

Haha ok. I knew they didn't retain the bright green on their shell for their whole life, but my RES's in the past usually didn't turn dull until they were a little older. Thanks, I'll try not to be so paranoid
 
What sand is that?
 
Just the standard brown sand you get at Home Depot... A large bag is only like $3 so I just make sure I clean it well enough before putting it in my tanks.
Sweet. I like the color of it not to mention the price. What's the grain size like?
