Baby Senegalus with a huge belly

There is something wrong with one of my baby Senegalus, he has had a big bulge for almost a week. Its only getting bigger.

This is taken yesterday, its bigger now:

It has not moved, only stands more out now.
My first guess was that he had swallowed a rock, maybe there is a clog?
Has any of you experienced something like that?

Ingesting gravel is highly possible causing a blockage unfortunately theres not much you can do about it.This is the very reason gravel is not recommended for a bichir tank.-Anne

ok, thanks. I will use sand in the future
But do you know if they can 'vomit' the gravel back? or will he die?

i tried to, but he didnt want to be touched, he is so small that it was hard to hold him.

well thats a shame. If it does die then make sure you dissect it to see if gravel was really the cause.

well today i found both of the small Senegalus dead
the belly on the sick one was getting smaller so i thought he was getting better.
I salted the tank 3 days ago because of ich/ick/white spots. The salt didnt cure it so i started giving meds yesterday. Are polys sensitive to the medicine?
I thougt it was weird that both died since the other one was looking healthy and growing.
They were just under 4"

Yes polys can be sensitive to certain meds(copper based)-Anne
