Baby silver aro

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No problem, any more advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. Craig

I'd leave the divider up for a while get them used to seeing the aro , your aro needs to be much bigger to tackle a pair of angry Oscars in an established tank my guess is 12-14" so it can take a few hits a fight back , you could also try taking the big Oscar out and trying the aro with the smaller one at first , let it get established and put on some size then try big Oscar again.
Unfortunately it's pretty much always a case of trail and error with aros and big cichlids untill you find some balance , I've lost loads of nice fish over the years due to this problem , best of luck hope they work it out eventually

Thanks, in hindsight I should have bought all my fish at the same time!!

I've tried that still doesn't work different growth rates etc it's an on going nightmare lol

Lol, I'm surprised he hasn't charged at the egg crate to be honest, he has moved everything else around since I've put the divider in! Plants are now at the top, nice?! It may catch on.

Just like to say thank you for all the help and advice I've been given on this problem, I bought a geophagus altifron and last week put him in the side of the tank with the arrowana, today the tanks been rescaped and the egg crate taken out, up to yet the aggression is minimal compared to my first attempt and the attention is shared, my hystrix is still in quarantine at the suppliers but have had a phone call to say he's ready. Once again thank you.

I remember how stressed out I used to get at the thought of my silver Arowana getting beat on or even... Killed! They are super beautiful and I just thought of the Oscar as being "trash" compared to the silver aro in my big tank. I eventually just sold him to someone who promised me he would be in a tank by himself. It gets stressful
