I just got this pair of 5-6 inch aro's two days ago and they have been eating like ravenous beast's every time i offer up fd Krill. I did a 15-20% water change this morning and when i got home from work they wont touch the krill. I also have cichlid gold which is a no go. My lfs doesnt have crickets small enough for them at this size. I read that they need to eat small meals a few times a day at this stage and kinda concerned that i cant get them to eat anything at all today. Is it possible they are still a little ticked about the comotion in there new home so soon? The dominant one (i say this because of behavior and IMO he/she just acts dominant) is kinda hanging around the canister filters spray bar and not really cruising too much. Am I just think I'm just over reacting?

Also exactly how many times a day should I feed them at this stage and how much? I have read multiple opinions on this subject and they seem to be way off in comparison.

I appreciate your time and patience as this is my 1st attempt at raising aro's.

P.S. Parameters and temp all check out...

The water change may have stressed them, especially if it was unaged water or if the temperature of the new water was significantly different. Once they get over the initial trauma they should start eating again. It's probably best to wait until they get active again before feeding them.

yes, give them a couple of days. do not ness around the tank...

Yup, I think they are still getting used to it in their new environment....dont feed for a day...maybe try FD bloodworms or FD brine shrimp.......;)

Keep us updated on the babies and best of luck to you

Thanks for the fast responses guys, this is my first shot out into advanced aquaria, and I dont want to have any trial and error scenario's play out. I'll be sure to keep you posted.

this happen to me once when i had arowanas like everyone said they just need to settle in no worries

Success! Crickets seem to be the way to go. After walking through my lfs and purchasing just about everything from bloodworms, super worms, and even some feeders, crickets did the job. Thanks to all for your knowledge and experience. I'll try not to bug out the next time they wont eat...Thanks again guys.
