I wouldn't part with mine for less than £2k

But the last 2 I got from Andy was £550 for one and £625 for the other

in the UK you are looking about £500-600
So, you wouldn't part yours for less than £2k, paid £550 for one and £625 for other, and think that the price for ST in the UK is £500-£600... Are you the one who represents/makes up the price for ST in UK? It may be your preference, but it's not the UK standard, or MFK standard...

Interesting comments but why do you say this?

Because prior to owning a Dat i knew nothing about them. I had an RTG in a tank and wanted a Dat. I went to JJ market and saw thousands of tiny baby IT being sold in little plastic bags on the street, like gold fish at a fair. I ask a question about "captive bred" on here, obviously i was told, "never been done". I went Back to JJ and was told "is being done".
I then went on a bit of a mission to find if they were in fact being captive bred. That led me to the Faculty of Fisheries at Kasetsat University, and asking questions about the ST and the breeding program at Bungborapetch in the center of Thailand. I learnt more about fish i've never owned in 6 months than i don't know what.
Since the 3 bar vt ct thing has been going on I've been chased away from shops in JJ while trying to take photos. I been there specifically hunting for baby ST and only found 3 bar indo, I've had arguments with vendors trying to sell me these thing telling me there's no difference. I've put time in to it, i don't even frikin own one!!
I am saying in tongue in cheek also.

I asked TK a question, what is the difference between pulcher and indo, he didn't answer (probably for good reason) but i felt stupid at the time.
I think apart from geographics and Latin name there can't be much difference. As stupid and it sounds i too would like to know how different they are on a genetic level.

I'm unsure of the crap you are going on about with you last post

The price of my ST is set so high then people won't keep asking if it's for sale

The 2 I got for £550 and £625 the price was asked buy the seller and they were both very good grade fish better than some of the crap ST I see for sale in the US or Singapore that price was last year

I also saw some for sale that rockygold had last year the grade was not that great and he wanted $1800-2400 again prices not set by me so based on that prices £2k is not that bad for my bad boy

A fish is only worth what someone will pay so that's why I say £550 - £650 in the UK but as Ade said if you can find them

Most large ST are only for sale for a reason mainly because they are attacking aros or other fish

The joke is I'm not sure how much a 15inch real ST will cost in the US but in the UK you are looking about £500-600 so not much more than the small so called ST I would rather pay the extra and be sure I was getting a ST for sure if that's what I wanted rather than take a gamble with $400
15in real ST for £500-£600 is not something you will find that usual, so no, that price doesn't represent real ST price in the UK... Of course, fish is only worth what someone will pay, so if someone willing to pay, why bother to debate...

CC, t1 not referring to u mate.

The lower price T1 posted was maybe a year ago. Not much more or less, (I think)
So price will have gone up a bit now.

Regarding £ 2k for T1 ST, I can fully understand the high price:
It is a damn near perfect grade ST
Has all the identifiable factors of ST
And must be 24 inch long and the depth or height must be near 12 inch or more.
It could be the largest in captivity, and is still not that old for a tigerfish. So has many Years to go.
Most importantly it's the personal attachment, I know what te owner gone through to keep and raise this fish from 3 inch to it's current size.

My prices are based on the 2 I brought. From Andy and the price the 2 Andy has now and what he paid for them

The price I say mine is worth £2k may seam fair and I have been offered that a few times outside the UK

ST travel real bad at large sizes so I feel all large ST stay in the country they are in or we just stand more chance of losing the large ones that are about now

As for price again yes I think it's worth £2k and it may get that if it was going overseas but I don't think many would be intrested in the UK at that price

Actually, I have no problem with the price of £2k for T1 pulcher. I wouldn't believe if there's any 15" real pulcher going at the price of £500 to £600 as he claimed, unless it's defected some how. A fair price for any 15" real pulcher wouldn't be less than $1k anywhere in the world, including their home country

I'm just going on the price 2 were sold to me at and another 2 less than a year ago

The UK is only a small place and I can see any large ones coming up for sale again if there are even more than 10 left in the UK
