all that said it doesnt get away from the fact that every internet seller is playing a part of killing the LFS

dry goods internet is much cheaper
now you can get fish at more than half the price a shop will sell them

take asian aros

shop price red tail gold £650
internet or private seller £300 last year

that is a big diffrence people dont care to much for the LFS when they are charging £300 more for the same fish from the same farm

agreed...why support someone who is gonna double the price to make a profit? Why waste hard earned money? The internet is great for the consumer....not so much the local shops.

I only shop in places like Costco, Sam's Club, or Walmart. :D Doing business is about competition. If you can not offer lower price, or something rare, you are out. Every dollar is hard earned money.

we are living in the age of "Me" which explains it all.... realize that if the LFS cannot compete... the wholesalers and importers will not be bringing in as much fish.... the farmers and collectors will not be doing as much business either.... only way to survive is to raise prices on all fish.... common or rare.... simple economics..... realize that your able to get that special price because of the "heart" of the industry keeps pumping.....

Well I must chime in since I'm a lfs. I am a hobbyist by blood and have been on both sides of the fence. The internet is our worse enemy and our best friend. Its like a double edge sword. Many fail to realize what goes around comes around. It not only affects this industry but many. Your job could bew affected. Maybe because the internet you are not needed because its cheaper?

I still think the datnoids will be NTT or IT...

BTW, those poor farmers or fishmen will never get an extra penny from raising price of fish by middleman or LFS.
Stimulating economy is to increase spending not the price tag.

I don't think you can compare oddballer to those garage vendors like some mentioned above!

Ouch...:screwy:

New to the site as a "member" but been browsing forever!

From what I see Rich (regardless of where he chooses to sell his stuff) is a stand up vendor! - though I never bought anything :D

I see Jeff's name pretty often also in correlation with providing great quality fish!

And fishtankfactory seems to be a real nice guy - though I never bought anything (but if I do...please bookmark this thread fishtankfactory :D)

Yes...support the LFS when you can. Buy food from them, and your standard goods as sometimes I hate to wait a few days for something I need right away, even if I save a few bucks...but when you come across a deal where you save mucho $$$...we can all admit that it's very tempting.

Call it selfish or "me", but ultimately for most of us...without these savings we could not afford the hobby.

I can understand the post from the LFS guy that said the internet could soon replace us...you are right...but generally "valuable" employees are usually the last ones to go :headbang2
