My last FH was back in 2000....lost interest in them because you can't keep them with anything else....but I always find myself looking at them and admiring the beauty. I guess I stayed away from them long enough because I just got this 5-6" Short Body SRD. Don't know what it is about this guy that snapped me out of it. On top of that I said F it and took a chance by keeping him in a 180g community tank with GT, Breidohris, plecos, and catfish with no problems...lol.

It looks like his forehead can pop some more. What's the best way to do this?
He is currently 5-6", what will be his max size?
How old do you think he is?

Beautiful fh! It has a lot of nodule on his kok which I've rarely seen. On his age its hard to say it can be a year old to 4 years old.. Hes full grown and I doubt his kok will get any bigger..

I love the fish though!

Thanks bro....I thought the nodule is because maybe his kok shrank a bit and if it was full blown it would smoothen out? So you think he's full grown? I've seen sb srd that is 8" and was hoping he would get as big.

I maybe wrong but he looks maxed out though. Fish always grow so who knows. My midas grew from 12"-15.5" in 6 years. I am not sure about his kok but hes beautiful though. What that set you back?

I'm sure you know more than I do........I paid $300. I don't know if I overpaid but I've seen lesser quality from $100 - $200. Knowing that and judging it by body shape, kok, vibrant red covering most of body, and dark black flowering from tail to head...I'm assuming price is right. But if you think I overpaid please let me know for my knowledge next time I buy a fh. Thanks.

hmmm.....you think so? What does that do to it's value, is it worth more or less? I have until Friday to return him. You think at that price should i keep or return?

It really is up to you if you like him or not. I sell flowerhorn and I buy a lot too and If I were to take buy that guy if hes fertile I would pay around 150-200 max on that fish. Bonsai are my favorite they are more rare and can be kept in smaller tanks.

I think it looks more like Short Body. Bonsai don't have that big of tail. Bonsai or more balloon shaped with little to no tail. Very nice color and kok doe!
