back sand

hello guys and girls im new to the forum and to the fish world. So i have a question i was putting black sand but i guess i did not rinse it propertly cause the 60 gallon tank that i have is completly dark. The was looks really dirty is this a good thing or a bad thing i need help thanks.

Never used black sand myself, but doesn't sound too good in my opinion.

remove more than half the water and add new water and leave the filter on. the water will settle overnight and will clear up in about 2 days. nothing to worry. hope there are no fishes in the tank though
