Back to discus

Why do you make stupid threads about young people not being capable of fishkeeping?
Your never going to live that one down.
Anyway, I make threads about fish I want to get or could get. Most of the time the thread is where it ends however and I never actually get the fish in my possession.
Anyway, I have two 75's. one with an RD there's already a thread about, and the tank in question in this thread there's a picture of below.

You seem to still be butthurt over that thread I see LOL! Im gonna assume you are 12-14 or so...I live things up not down bro! Good to see you are actually legit for a while i thought you didn't even have a 75... Nice tank none the less... How big is your red devil? Keep us updated on your discus! They are delicate and need spot on water quality! Really cool choice of fish, hope you stick with it!

Discus nitrates need to be kept around or under 10ppm, I wouldn't let them go above that for very long or you'll runt/stunt the fish and it may lead to other issues (like HITH) in adults. So if your tap has nitrates already and you can't get tanks lower than 15ppm, I'd say discus aren't for you right now. I'm just trying to spare you the expense and the trouble up front.

A 75 gallon tank would be great for a group of adult discus but when you say "a few" I'm picturing one or two, and so I'm assuming you don't understand the discus pecking order. You need to read up on that first. There's a reason people recommend 6 discus when starting out. And that number, along with that many angels, isn't going to work in a 75 gallon unless you did large daily water changes to keep the nitrates and DOC down.
1.) I meant more like 4 fish.
2.) No nitrates in my tap water. Just a beginner mistake on my first tank that led some kinda high nitrates that have balanced at a little above average. Thank god I had hardy fish like angels in the tank to start off.
3.) ill be buying a 75 for the discus. Ill be getting a shoal of 7. I've kept em before, failed, and now am better prepared to try them again with more experience and patience. I've read a lot, but there's always more I can read. Thanks!

 Good move on the dedicated 75g. You said you been down this road before so you have an idea of what to look for. Water quality, nutritious food & patience. I'm bettin you'll do fine this time around. Never be afraid to ask, best of luck. "T"
